Harmony Rising Chorus is a welcoming and inclusive women’s a cappella chorus based in Calgary, Alberta. We sing four-part barbershop harmony, blending voices to create a rich, vibrant sound that is both powerful and uplifting.

Harmony Rising is a women’s barbershop chorus based in Calgary, Alberta. Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but we share one common passion: creating beautiful harmony together.
A Chorus Built on Community
As part of Sweet Adelines International, the world’s largest singing organization dedicated to women’s voices, Harmony Rising participates in regional competitions, performs throughout the community, and continually develops our musical skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The Barbershop Experience
Barbershop harmony is a unique style of a cappella singing made up of four parts: tenor, lead, baritone, and bass. When sung together with precision, these voices create a distinctive “ringing” sound that is both exciting and deeply moving.
This style of music has been bringing people together for generations, and continues to inspire singers around the world.
At Harmony Rising, we carry that tradition forward while also exploring new music and modern arrangements.
Our Story
Harmony Rising Chorus began in 1982, when a passion for barbershop harmony brought together a small group of women in Calgary. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into a thriving chorus built on music, connection, and community.
Through dedication, word of mouth, and a shared love of singing, the chorus expanded over the years and became an established part of Calgary’s musical community.
Today, Harmony Rising continues that legacy, honouring its roots while embracing growth, inclusion, and the future of the chorus.
Part of Something Bigger
Harmony Rising is proud to be part of Sweet Adelines International, a global organization of women dedicated to advancing the art of barbershop harmony through education, performance, and competition.
We are also part of Region 26, the Canadian Maple Leaf Region, connecting us with choruses across Western Canada and strengthening our sense of community beyond Calgary.
